Question:
97 Saab 900 Convertible - roof leaks after big rains, comes in passenger and driver side?

Never had a problem until this year. After heavy rains the convertible roof leaks from the front and sides and it's horrible if I open the roof - it floods the car. The water does not leak if the car is not moving (with the roof up) but as soon as I turn left or right, water floods in from the opposite turn side. I'm 85 miles from the closest Saab dealer. I know Mazda's had a roof drain problem but how do I find and clean a Saab's convertible roof drainage system?

Drainage system? Surely you jest. That's the downside of owning a convertible. As they age the roof material shrinks and the rain comes in. Some are worse than others and if you don't use top dressing on it and/or leave it stretched for long periods of time it's quicker to deteriorate. Convertibles are nice but they were never really meant to be anything but "Fair Weather" cars.

yeah your heater core is cracked...you can bypass it by popping the hood and and locating where the coolant hoses enter and exit the firewall (one should be bigger than the other), going to canadian tire and buy 2 little hose clamps and a little brass tube to connect the 2 together as a temporary fix. If you drive your car with a cracked heater core you run the risk of overheating the engine due to lack of coolant. That can cause some serious damage, i would get that taken care of quick....good luck!

Considering that they don't have a buyer and will probably let the brand die, you probably should just buy another car.
